The Minister of State in the President’s Office (Public Service Management and Good Governance), George Simbachawene, has lauded the Mining Commission for its strong performance in increasing government revenue and generating employment opportunities for Tanzanian youth.

Speaking during a visit to the Commission’s pavilion at the Public Service Week exhibitions currently underway at Chinangali Grounds in Dodoma,Simbachawene attributed the Commission’s success to the effective leadership of the Minister for Minerals, Anthony Mavunde.

“I congratulate the Mining Commission and commend your Minister, Anthony Mavunde, for his capable stewardship in enhancing government revenue collection, reviving previously inactive mining sites, and creating much-needed jobs for young people,” he said. “These are achievements worth celebrating.”

According to the Minister, the mining sector now contributes over 10 percent to Tanzania’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), a clear indicator of its growing role in the national economy. He urged the Commission to build on this momentum and aim even higher.

Hon. Simbachawene also emphasized that the sector’s guiding slogan, “Mining is Life and Wealth,” is not just aspirational but a reflection of real impact.

“This is not just a slogan,” he stressed. “Mining contributes meaningfully to job creation, business opportunities, technological advancement, and domestic revenue. The Commission must continue working with determination so that all Tanzanians benefit from the country’s natural resources.”

This year’s Public Service Week exhibitions have drawn participation from numerous government institutions, including key players in the mining sector.

The Mining Commission’s booth has attracted significant interest from the public particularly small-scale miners and local entrepreneurs eager to learn about opportunities and support available within the sector.
