Dar es Salaam, June 27, 2025 — The Executive Director of Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH), Dr. Delilah Kimambo, has urged the hospital’s social welfare officers to serve patients with empathy, professionalism, and a deep sense of compassion.

Addressing staff during a departmental meeting on Friday, Dr. Kimambo underscored the critical role of social welfare officers in the hospital’s mission to provide patient-centered care, noting that many patients rely on them not only for services but also for emotional support and advocacy.

“Lower yourselves to meet people at their level. Serve them with love and understanding,” she said. “Only then can we fully grasp their needs and challenges and offer meaningful help. You are not just staff you are advocates, a voice for the voiceless, and a source of comfort for those in despair.”

The meeting is part of Dr. Kimambo’s broader initiative to enhance internal communication and foster a culture of accountability and transparency in service delivery.

Director of Nursing and Midwifery Services, Ms. Redemptha Matindi, welcomed the engagement and thanked Dr. Kimambo for her continued support, stating that the directorate is committed to implementing her guidance to ensure Muhimbili remains a center of excellence in healthcare.

Dr. Kimambo further emphasized the importance of interdepartmental collaboration, stating that the hospital’s overall success hinges on unity, teamwork, and a shared commitment to serving all Tanzanians with dignity and care.
