The Muhimbili Orthopaedic Institute (MOI) is set to provide specialist medical services during the 49th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF), popularly known as Sabasaba.
MOI will run a dedicated clinic at the exhibition grounds, offering expert consultation and services related to orthopaedics, brain, spine, and nerve conditions.
Speaking during a press briefing on Friday, June 27, MOI’s Public Relations Manager, Mr Patrick Mvungi, said this year’s approach marks a shift from previous years, with a focus on bringing services directly to the public.
“We will have a special clinic operated by our orthopaedic, spine, and neurosurgery specialists at the Sabasaba grounds,” he said. “In the past, we mostly showcased our services, but this time we want to provide real-time, on-site treatment and consultation.”
According to Mr Mvungi, consultation fees will be set at Sh5,000, while an ultrasound scan will cost Sh10,000.
Consultant orthopaedic surgeon Dr Tumaini Minja encouraged the public to visit MOI’s booth number 12 to take advantage of the services on offer.
He said the institute will also run special nutrition education sessions, offering free guidance on healthy diets, as well as physiotherapy services and lifestyle coaching aimed at preventing chronic back pain.
The Sabasaba trade fair, held annually at the Mwalimu Nyerere Trade Fair Grounds, brings together thousands of visitors and exhibitors from Tanzania and beyond.
