The Kilimanjaro Regional Administrative Secretary, Mr. Kiseo Nzowa, has directed the Same District Council to intensify its efforts in revenue collection to ensure that the council meets or surpasses its revenue targets.
He emphasized that these revenues are critical for the government to implement various development projects for the benefit of citizens.
Speaking on June 20, 2025, following the dissolution of the Same District Council during a session that reviewed the Controller and Auditor General’s (CAG) report, Mr. Nzowa stated that revenue generation forms the backbone of public development initiatives.
He said, “The key is to strengthen efforts so that revenue collection meets or even exceeds the target, because these collections are what enable the government to implement various development projects. The more revenue we generate, the stronger the government becomes in delivering services to its people.”
Mr. Nzowa also commended the Same District Council for consistently achieving clean audit reports and urged outgoing councilors to become ambassadors by promoting the development projects implemented in their respective wards.
On her part, the District Commissioner of Same, Kasilda Mgeni, urged the councilors to continue collaborating with the government by offering guidance in their wards to ensure successful implementation of development plans.
She also advised department heads to continue providing professional guidance to the District Executive Director in the best interest of the public.
Additionally, Kasilda instructed the Same District Executive Director, Mr. Jimson Mhagama, to ensure full implementation of directives from the Minister of State, President's Office – Regional Administration and Local Government, including the directive to avoid initiating new projects during the absence of a sitting council.
The outgoing Council Chairperson, Yusto Mapande, expressed his gratitude to all outgoing councilors for their cooperation and encouraged them to remain active in both governmental and community affairs.
He also underscored the importance of participating in the upcoming Freedom Torch (Mwenge wa Uhuru) celebrations, scheduled to be received in Same District on June 30, 2025.
