The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Dr. Natu El-maamry Mwamba, held a strategic meeting with a delegation from the World Bank to discuss ongoing and future development cooperation between Tanzania and the Bank. The meeting took place at the Ministry’s headquarters in Treasury Square, Dodoma.
During the discussions, Dr. Mwamba emphasized the importance of partnership in achieving sustainable economic growth.
She stated,"Our collaboration with the World Bank is vital for driving reforms that ensure economic stability and inclusive growth in Tanzania. We are committed to strengthening public financial management and enhancing debt sustainability for the benefit of all Tanzanians."
The meeting focused on advancing systemic reforms aimed at enhancing economic stability, strengthening public financial management, ensuring government debt sustainability, promoting private sector participation in inclusive economic growth, and addressing climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts.
Mr. Japhet Justine, Commissioner for Government Debt Management, highlighted the significance of sound debt management practices, saying,"Maintaining a sustainable debt profile is key to safeguarding Tanzania’s economic future and creating space for investment in critical sectors."
Dr. Johnson Nyella, Commissioner for Policy, added,"Our policy reforms aim to create a conducive environment for private sector growth, which is essential for job creation and social inclusion."
The World Bank delegation reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Tanzania’s development agenda, noting the importance of these reforms in achieving long-term resilience.
Also in attendance were Mr. Nuru Ndile, Assistant Commissioner for Government Debt Management, along with other senior officials from the Ministry of Finance and the World Bank.
