The 2025 CECAFA Senior Women’s Championship will reach its climax tomorrow, with Tanzania set to face Kenya in a thrilling title decider at the Azam Complex Stadium in Chamazi, Dar es Salaam.

Both teams head into the final match unbeaten, tied on nine points each after three consecutive victories. With identical records, the winner of tomorrow’s clash will walk away as the tournament champion.

Tanzania holds a slight edge in goal difference, having scored 12 goals compared to Kenya’s 11. However, the statistics only add to the anticipation of what promises to be an intense and closely contested match.

Twiga Stars head coach Bakari Shime expressed confidence ahead of the encounter, stating that the team has prepared thoroughly to face a strong Kenyan side.

While acknowledging the importance of the championship, Shime emphasized that the tournament also serves as vital preparation for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers.

“Our goal is to build a competitive squad for future international challenges,” said Shime. “I must commend Uganda for giving us a good test in our previous match. Although we won 2–0, the game highlighted areas we need to improve. I hope Kenya brings the same level of competition.”

He added, “This tournament is about more than just winning the title. It’s about shaping our players mentally and technically for bigger stages.”

In the final fixture of the tournament, Burundi will take on South Sudan in a match to conclude the group stage, though it will not impact the title race.

All eyes, however, will be on the Tanzania–Kenya showdown  a match that will not only determine the champion but also showcase the rising standard of women’s football in the CECAFA region.
