

Thirty boxers have advanced to the semifinal stage of the National Open Boxing Championship, set to take place today at Manyara Hall in Tandale, Dar es Salaam.
The fighters earned their spots after intense quarterfinal bouts held on June 5, 2025, at the same venue. In the 48 kg category, Abubakari Mohamed (Urafiki) progressed via walkover, Juma Athumani (JKT) won on points against Jofrey Maganga (Azam), Makama (Ngome) defeated his teammate Hamadi Ashimu, and Abdallah Maganga (JKT) outpointed Fadhili Hassan (Urafiki).
In the 51 kg division, Saidi Mtibala (Ngome), Ramadhan Omari (JKT), and Ramadhani Hamisi (Mbagala) all advanced via walkovers.
The 54 kg class saw Idd Athumani (JKT) eliminate Muhsini Hamis (Urafiki), while Idrisa Jumanne (Mbagala) and Ashrafu Mustafa (Ngome) moved forward by walkovers.
Isihaka Shaban (JKT) won on points over Jofrey Aloyce (Ngome), and Hussein Juma (JKT) knocked out Johnson Mwaipopo (Kisarawe).
In the 57 kg category, Mohammed Mangochi (Ngome) advanced by walkover, John Donart (Ngome) outpointed Salum Athumani, Idd Kasim (Ngome) moved on by walkover, and Maope Kajoro (Ngome) defeated Kelvin Mulamula (Urafiki).
In the 60 kg division, Shaban Rajabu advanced by walkover, Isaya Ernest (JKT) won by RSCH against Michael Nyange (Ngome), Steven Ngila (Ngome) earned a points victory over Hassan Habibu (JKT), and Credo Piter (JKT) outpointed Hassan Mrutu.
In the 63.5 kg class, Batron Mwambalakasa (Urafiki) received a walkover, Tosh Triphone (JKT) won by RSCH over George Raphael (Morogoro), and Shafii Hamza (JKT) secured a points win over Hamza Ramadhan.
The 67 kg division featured walkovers for Bakari Tao and Devid Mtembezi (both from Ngome), and Sabura Francis (JKT), while Abdallah Ally (Ngome) claimed an RSCH win over Mohamed Juma (JKT).
In the 71 kg weight class, Devid Chazi (Ngome) advanced by walkover, Aloyce Joseph (Keko Mwanga) defeated Brayan Michael, and Mbelwa Amos earned a points win against Jafari Joseph (Kagera).
With the semifinal lineup now complete, fans can expect high-stakes action as these boxers compete for a place in the national finals.
