Tanzania’s U17 national beach handball team players are intensifying their preparations at their respective clubs ahead of the upcoming World Championship, set to take place from June 17 to 22 in Tunisia.

The team secured a place in the global tournament after the African Handball Confederation canceled the regional qualifiers that were originally scheduled to be held in Tanzania.

Speaking to The Respondent Online, Bruno Johnson, Chairperson of the Beach Handball Commission under the Tanzania Handball Association (TAHA), stated that the players are currently engaged in individual training programs as they await further updates.

We’re now waiting for confirmation regarding a centralized training camp, which will bring the players together to build unity and coordination,” he said.

“I’ve already submitted the proposal to our senior leadership and recommended that the camp be held in Dar es Salaam to reduce costs. We're currently waiting for a response to finalize the dates.”he added

Johnson added that preparations are progressing on other fronts as well. TAHA has reached out to the National Sports Council (BMT) to request financial support for travel expenses, tickets, meals, and accommodation, and they are now awaiting feedback.

He called on stakeholders and supporters to rally behind the team, emphasizing that their success on the world stage would be a proud achievement for the entire nation.

When these young players perform well, it’s not just their victory it’s a victory for Tanzania. It raises our profile and brings honor to the country,” he concluded.
