The Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation of Tanzania, Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, delivered a special message from President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan to the President of Uganda, Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, on May 13, 2025, in Entebbe, Uganda.
He was accompanied by Tanzania’s Ambassador to Uganda, Maj. Gen. Paul Kisesa Simuli. The message was not disclosed, but it was described as important for strengthening relations between the two countries.
“This message from our President shows how much Tanzania values its friendship with Uganda,” said Minister Kombo. “We want to continue working closely with our neighbors for the benefit of our people.”
During his visit, Minister Kombo also toured the Tanzanian Embassy buildings in Kampala. He inspected the current offices and the former ambassador’s residence located in the Kololo area.
“This visit allowed me to see the work environment of our diplomats and the condition of our embassy property,” he said. “We must ensure that our foreign missions reflect the image of our country.”
Minister Kombo also held a working meeting with embassy staff, led by Ambassador Simuli. The focus was on improving service delivery, ensuring proper use of government resources, and identifying new areas for cooperation between Tanzania and Uganda.
“I reminded our staff that they play an important role in building partnerships,” Kombo said. “They must be proactive and always look for ways to promote Tanzania’s interests.”
Tanzania and Uganda continue to cooperate on several projects, including the East African Crude Oil Pipeline.
The visit is expected to enhance diplomatic and economic cooperation between the two nations.
