The construction of the Iringa Town bypass road has kicked off at a remarkable pace, marking a significant step by the government to ease traffic congestion and improve the flow of heavy vehicles around the town.

Iringa District Commissioner, Comrade Kheri James, recently conducted an inspection of the ongoing project, which spans 7.3 kilometers and is being built to bitumen standard.

The project, valued at TSh 41.6 billion, is being executed by Sinohydro Corporation Ltd from China and is expected to be completed within one year.

During his visit, Comrade Kheri James commended the Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) for its effective supervision and the swift progress of the project, describing it as a symbol of hope for the people of Iringa.

“The completion of this road will significantly reduce congestion within Iringa Town, enhance its appearance, and spur economic, social, and commercial activities in the municipality,” he stated.

He further underscored the importance of maintaining high-quality standards, ensuring timely completion, and strictly adhering to the terms of the contract to avoid any setbacks.

In addition to the bypass project, the government is also advancing several other infrastructure developments in Iringa District.

These include the construction of the Iringa–Msembe and Ipogolo–Kilolo roads, as well as the completion of the Iringa Airport upgrade.
