The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Energy, Engineer Felchesmi Mramba, has affirmed that access to clean cooking energy remains a top priority for the Government of Tanzania.
He stressed that the Government is fully committed to accelerating the implementation of the National Clean Cooking Energy Strategy to shift the country away from traditional, polluting cooking fuels toward safer, more sustainable alternatives.
Speaking on May 17, 2025, in Dar es Salaam during the Clean Cooking Energy Marathon held at the Oysterbay Grounds, Eng. Mramba highlighted the urgent need to reduce environmental degradation and safeguard public health through the adoption of clean cooking technologies.
"The Government is moving swiftly on this agenda because the widespread use of unsafe fuels like firewood and charcoal continues to harm our environment. By implementing this vision, we can significantly reduce environmental damage and improve the health and well-being of our citizens," Mramba stated.
He also commended the organizers of the marathon the Tanzania Association of Business Women (TABWA) for their initiative aimed at raising public awareness about clean cooking energy.
Engineer Mramba further encouraged stakeholders from all sectors to join efforts in expanding outreach and education campaigns to ensure more Tanzanians understand the importance of transitioning to clean cooking solutions.
