The Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA), Central Zone office, has intensified efforts to promote the use of clean cooking energy in Singida and Iringa regions, while also attracting investment in this sector as part of the National Strategy for Clean Cooking Energy.
The campaign was led by EWURA’s Central Zone Manager, Eng. Hawa Shani Lweno, through radio programs aired in both Singida and Iringa, alongside seminars conducted between May 27 and 29, 2025.
The seminars targeted food vendors (mama lishe), motorcycle taxi operators (bodaboda), and distributors of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG).
“Our aim is to ensure that users of cooking gas observe safety, health, and environmental protection standards, while service providers under our regulation comply with the conditions of their licenses,” emphasized Eng. Lweno.
The initiative is in line with national efforts to shift households from traditional cooking fuels to cleaner alternatives, thus reducing health risks, protecting the environment, and improving energy efficiency.
