The newly appointed Audit Committee of the Ministry of Energy has conducted a field visit to key electricity projects in Pwani Region to assess their progress and effectiveness.

The visit is part of the Committee’s mandate to provide informed advice to the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary on the proper management of resources and oversight of project implementation.

The visit took place on May 19 and 20, 2025, and included tours of the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project (JNHPP) and the Chalinze Power Transmission and Distribution Substation.

Speaking after the visit, Committee Chairperson Engineer Kenneth Nindie praised the Government for its remarkable efforts in executing large-scale energy projects that aim to benefit citizens and support national development.

Engineer Nindie highlighted that the Sixth Phase Government has made substantial financial investments in the energy sector.

He stressed that it is the Ministry’s responsibility to ensure strong supervision so that public funds are utilized efficiently and deliver real value to the country.

The Committee also called on contractors involved in project execution to demonstrate patriotism by adhering to agreed standards and maintaining high quality in their work, ensuring that the infrastructure lasts and delivers long-term benefits to the people.

"We commend the Government for the tremendous strides it is making in implementing major infrastructure projects for the benefit of our nation. We strongly urge contractors to act with integrity and patriotism, complying with contractual terms and ensuring that all work meets required standards and quality. Only then can these projects bring lasting impact to the country," said Engineer Nindie.
