Deputy Health Minister Dr. Godwin Mollel urges Nurses to uphold integrity and embrace innovation

Deputy Minister for Health, Dr. Godwin Mollel, has called on nurses across Tanzania to uphold the highest standards of integrity and professionalism in their work.

Speaking during the national celebration of International Nurses Day on May 12, 2025, held in Iringa Region, Dr. Mollel emphasized the critical role of nurses in delivering compassionate, ethical, and effective healthcare.

He urged nurses to remain disciplined, respect the dignity of their patients, and serve with empathy and dedication, regardless of the challenges they may face in their working environments.

My appeal to all nurses is to be ethical and to uphold the values of your profession,” said Dr. Mollel. 

Nursing requires a heart of service but more importantly, it demands trustworthiness and integrity, because you deal directly with people’s lives.”he added

Dr. Mollel also challenged nurses to become innovators in their field, highlighting that creativity is essential for improving healthcare delivery, especially in areas with limited resources and personnel.

I encourage nurses to think creatively,” he added. “The world is evolving rapidly, and you must take the lead in applying your knowledge to address the challenges within the health sector. With innovation, we can build stronger, more responsive healthcare systems.”he added

International Nurses Day is observed globally each year on May 12 to honor the invaluable contributions of nurses to health systems worldwide. This year’s national event brought together nurses from across Tanzania, with awards presented to outstanding professionals recognized for excellence and dedication in their roles.
