The Tanzania Forest Services Agency (TFS) has donated 250 timber planks and 50 logs to support education infrastructure development in Kasulu District, Kigoma Region.
The donation was officially handed over by the Kasulu District Forest Officer, SCO Shadrack Msilu, to the District Commissioner, Colonel Isack Mwakisu, on behalf of the TFS Commissioner for Conservation, Prof. Dos Santos Silayo.
The event took place on April 15, 2025, at the Kasulu District Commissioner’s Office and was witnessed by acting directors from the Kasulu Town Council and Kasulu District Council.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, SCO Msilu said the donation was part of TFS’s commitment to supporting the government’s efforts to improve learning environments across the country, particularly in areas facing infrastructure challenges.
“We are aware of the difficulties facing the education sector, especially when it comes to infrastructure. As TFS, we are working hand in hand with local authorities to ensure that students learn in safe and conducive environments,” said Msilu.
Receiving the donation, Colonel Mwakisu expressed deep appreciation to TFS for the timely support and pledged that the materials would be used to directly improve school infrastructure in the district.
“These timber planks and logs will go a long way in supporting the construction of classrooms and the making of school furniture. This will help reduce overcrowding and improve the overall learning experience for our students,” he said.
The initiative reflects TFS’s broader vision of contributing to community development through sustainable forest resource management.
