The Tanzanian Ambassador to the Union of Comoros, Said Yakubu, recently met with Ms. Kanizat Ibrahim, Africa’s representative on the FIFA Council and a citizen of Comoros.

Their meeting focused on strengthening sporting ties and highlighting Tanzania’s impressive strides in football development.

Ambassador Yakubu began by congratulating Ms. Ibrahim on her appointment to the FIFA Council, calling it a proud moment for Africa and a testament to her dedication to the sport.

"Your appointment is not only a win for Comoros but for the entire African continent," said Ambassador Yakubu. "We are confident that your voice will help elevate African football to new heights."

The Ambassador took the opportunity to share Tanzania’s recent progress in football, particularly under the leadership of Tanzania Football Federation President, Mr. Wallace Karia.

"Football in Tanzania is growing at an impressive pace, especially in women's football and among top clubs like Simba and Yanga. The passion for the game in our country has never been stronger," he added.

Ambassador Yakubu highlighted the Tanzanian government's commitment to football through infrastructure investment, including the construction and renovation of stadiums, as well as hosting major football events and offering financial support to national teams.

"We believe in the power of sport to unite, inspire, and develop our youth. That’s why our government continues to invest heavily in the game," he explained.

In response, Ms. Kanizat Ibrahim expressed admiration for Tanzania’s achievements and reaffirmed her commitment to representing both the continent and Tanzania within FIFA.

"I am truly impressed by the progress Tanzania has made. It’s encouraging to see such dedication to both men’s and women’s football," said Ms. Ibrahim.

"As a member of the FIFA Council, I will continue to advocate for Africa and ensure that countries like Tanzania have a strong voice in global football."

The meeting between the two leaders underscored the growing role of sports diplomacy in strengthening regional and international relationships. It also reflected a shared vision of using football as a tool for development and unity.

With continued collaboration and investment, Tanzania’s football journey appears set for even greater success on the global stage.
