The VoteNow campaign, aimed at garnering votes for 10 National Parks in Tanzania competing for various prestigious awards, including Africa's Leading Honeymoon Destination, has garnered significant enthusiasm in Njombe.
Over 330 votes have been cast from Makete District alone, positioning TANAPA in a strong position to clinch these coveted international awards.
The World Travel Awards, based in London, UK, are highly regarded in the tourism industry and offer immense benefits to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, the relevant institutions, and the nation as a whole.
Winning these awards elevates the visibility of the national parks on the global stage, attracting more tourists to visit these remarkable protected areas.
Led by Amina Salum, the Senior Officer and Head of the Tourism Unit at Ruaha National Park, the TANAPA team expressed their gratitude for the overwhelming support from the people of Njombe, especially the residents of Njombe town and its surrounding areas.
Their active participation in the voting process significantly boosts the chances of Tanzania’s parks securing victory in this competition, which includes destinations from across Africa.
During a reception for the TANAPA officers, Dr. Ligobert Kalisa, Acting Director of Makete District Council, emphasized the importance of unity among Tanzanians and highlighted Njombe’s role in showcasing the country’s natural beauty.
"Njombe must lead by example. With two of our parks Kitulo and Ruaha competing, their victory would not only honor our region but also bring national pride," Dr. Kalisa stated.
Additionally, Dr. Kalisa urged Tanzanians to support President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s international efforts to promote Tanzania through her diplomatic initiatives and film projects by casting their votes for the 10 National Parks vying for the prestigious awards.
Amina Salum, Senior Officer and Head of the Tourism Unit at Ruaha National Park, further explained that their visit to Njombe was focused on encouraging local communities to vote and help ensure the success of Tanzania’s parks.
She also reminded the people of Njombe to visit Ruaha and Kitulo National Parks, as the entrance fees are affordable, and the parks are conveniently located near their area.
The VoteNow team, which arrived in Njombe on April 22, 2025, has already conducted voting at several locations, including the Makete District Commissioner’s Office, the District Executive Director’s Office, VETA Makete College, and Tandala Teachers College.
The campaign continues, with more opportunities for local residents to participate and contribute to the success of the initiative.
