Simba SC striker Steven Mukwala has been crowned the NBC Premier League Player of the Month for March 2025, while the club’s head coach Fadlu Davids has scooped the Coach of the Month award, marking a double victory for the Msimbazi giants.
Mukwala impressed with his outstanding and consistent performances, beating fellow finalists Elie Mpanzu of Simba and Pascal Msindo of Azam FC to clinch the individual honor.
The announcement was made by the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) Awards Committee, which oversees the monthly awards.
According to a statement from the Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB), Mukwala was instrumental in Simba’s success during March, scoring four goals in two matches, including a spectacular hat-trick in one of the fixtures.
He played a total of 152 minutes across both matches, contributing significantly to the team’s attacking force.
On the sidelines, coach Fadlu Davids also stood out, guiding Simba to back-to-back victories in March — a 6-0 thrashing of Dodoma Jiji and a 3-0 win over Coastal Union.
He edged out Rachid Taoussi of Azam and David Ouma of Singida Black Stars in the final selection. The impressive run kept Simba firmly in second place in the league standings.
In the stadium management category, Medastus Mwalika, the manager of Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya, was recognized as Best Venue Manager for March. He was praised for his excellent handling of matchday operations and infrastructure maintenance.
Meanwhile, in the Championship League (second tier), Mwani Thobias of Mbeya City was voted Player of the Month, while Awadh Juma of Mtibwa Sugar was named Coach of the Month.
Thobias emerged top after edging out Magata Charles of Mtibwa Sugar and Selemani Richard of Stand United. He scored five goals in four matches, playing a total of 325 minutes, and was commended for his consistent form.
On the coaching side, Awadh Juma triumphed over Mohamed Ismail of TMA and Juma Hussein of Stand United, having led Mtibwa Sugar to three wins out of four matches, keeping the club at the summit of the Championship League table.
