The 49th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF), commonly referred to as Sabasaba, is quickly approaching. Set to take place from June 28 to July 13, 2025, the event will bring together a global mix of business leaders, exhibitors, and visitors.

As one of the most prominent trade fairs in East Africa, the DITF serves as a vital platform for showcasing products and fostering trade opportunities in Tanzania and beyond.

In the lead-up to this major event, the Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade) has been working closely with key stakeholders, particularly the Security and Safety Committee, to ensure that all necessary security measures are put in place.

This year, with an increasing number of international exhibitors and visitors expected, the safety of participants and their property has been given top priority.

“Given the scale of the 49th edition of DITF, we must ensure that both exhibitors and visitors feel safe throughout the event,” said Mr. Mark Mwambali, Director of TanTrade.

“Our commitment is to provide a secure environment, which will allow everyone to focus on business and networking without worrying about safety concerns.”

The Security and Safety Committee, fully aware of the significance of such a large-scale event, has already kicked off its preparations.

These early efforts are aimed at ensuring a well-coordinated, robust security plan that can handle the complexities of the trade fair.

In a meeting held on Tuesday at TanTrade’s offices in Dar es Salaam, committee members discussed various strategies, including crowd management, surveillance systems, and emergency response protocols.

“The 49th DITF is not just another trade fair it's an international event with participants from all over the world,” said Ms. Grace Komba, Chairperson of the Security and Safety Committee.

“We are focused on implementing the highest standards of safety and security to protect all those involved. Our goal is to make sure the event runs without any hitches.”

Given the international nature of the trade fair, TanTrade is working with local law enforcement and security agencies to strengthen security measures around the event.

Enhanced surveillance, increased security personnel, and state-of-the-art crowd control systems are just a few of the steps being taken to ensure safety during the event.

In addition to security, the event organizers are focused on improving logistical arrangements to accommodate the growing number of participants.

This includes setting up exhibition spaces, optimizing transportation systems, and upgrading infrastructure. These efforts aim to provide a seamless experience for exhibitors and visitors alike.

“Exhibitors need to showcase their products in a professional and secure environment,” noted Mr. Mwambali.

“We’re ensuring that all aspects of the event, from logistics to security, are handled meticulously, so participants can focus on creating valuable business connections.”

As the 49th DITF draws closer, TanTrade’s preparations are becoming more refined, with an emphasis on creating a safe and efficient environment for all involved.

With meticulous planning, the 2025 edition of the Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair is set to be one of the most successful in the event's history, reinforcing Tanzania’s role as a key hub for trade and investment in East Africa.
