Mikono Muungano Cup set to thrill Tanga starting tomorrow

The excitement is building in Tanga as the Muungano Handball Cup is set to roar to life tomorrow, with seven action-packed matches scheduled to take place at the Sokoni Grounds.

The tournament will kick off with a clash between Ngome and JKU, setting the tone for an intense day of competition. 

The second match will feature JKT taking on Nyuki, followed by KMKM locking horns with Korogwe TC. Later, Korogwe Bulls will go head-to-head against Young Boys in what promises to be a high-energy encounter.

In the women's division, the fixtures are equally compelling. Taifa will face Korogwe TC, while JKT meets JKU in a much-anticipated showdown. The day's events will conclude with UMISETA challenging Ngome.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, Michael Chibawala, Chairman of the Tanzania Handball Association (TAHA), confirmed that all preparations have been completed and participating teams have arrived in Tanga, ready for competition.

“We’re fully prepared, and the tournament officially begins tomorrow. Our goal is to deliver the excitement and competitive spirit we envisioned,” said Chibawala.

He added that the level of preparation among the teams signals an intense and entertaining series of matches, as each team is determined to claim the championship.

Chibawala also issued a call to action to local residents:“We invite all handball fans and Tanga residents to come out in large numbers to support the teams and enjoy the incredible talent on display from both mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar.”
