The Fourth Phase President of the United Republic of Tanzania and Special Envoy of President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan,Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, has delivered a special message to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Congo (Congo-Brazzaville), Anatole Collinet Makosso.

The message, written by President Samia, was presented in Brazzaville on April 14, 2025, during a brief but symbolic ceremony attended by senior government officials from both nations.

Prime Minister Makosso received the written message on behalf of President Denis Sassou Nguesso, who was away in his home village participating in the funeral of his brother.

Speaking during the event,  Kikwete said, “President Samia values the friendship and cooperation between Tanzania and the Republic of Congo. Her message reflects a shared vision for stronger bilateral relations and collective development for Africa.”

Although the full contents of the message were not made public, it was confirmed that President Samia emphasized the importance of economic cooperation among African nations.

“At a time when external aid from Western countries is declining, Africa must take charge of its destiny,” Kikwete stressed. “We must invest in one another, trade with one another, and build the future of this continent together.”

President Samia’s message called for deepened regional integration, aligned with broader continental efforts such as the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

She believes this approach is key to achieving self-reliance and resilience in the face of global economic uncertainty.

Prime Minister Makosso thanked President Samia for her thoughtful message and described the relations between the two countries as warm and full of potential.

“We appreciate Tanzania’s gesture and commitment to our shared values. Strengthening our ties can only bring more opportunities for our people,” he said.

Kikwete’s visit to Brazzaville is seen as a strong signal of Tanzania’s commitment to continental diplomacy and cooperation.

As a respected elder statesman and former head of state, his role as President Samia’s Special Envoy demonstrates Tanzania’s strategic approach to engaging partners and promoting African unity.

“This is not just about Tanzania and Congo. It’s about Africa standing together,” Kikwete concluded.
