The Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Energy, Dr. Khatibu Kazungu, on Monday led government officials, TANESCO staff, and members of the public in paying their last respects to the late Muhajiri Haule, who served as the driver to the Managing Director of the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO).

The burial took place in Mlandizi, Coast Region, following a tragic road accident on April 13, 2025, in Bunda District, Mara Region, which claimed the lives of both Haule and the TANESCO Managing Director.

Speaking during the funeral, Dr. Kazungu described Haule as a joyful, kind-hearted, and dedicated public servant whose loyalty and professionalism earned him the rare trust of serving several TANESCO Managing Directors.

“We received the news of his passing with profound sadness,” said Dr. Kazungu. “On behalf of the Ministry of Energy and all our leaders, I extend our deepest condolences to the family. Muhajiri was a warm and cheerful individual, and we must honor the legacy he leaves behind.”

Former TANESCO leaders, including Dr. Tito Mwinuka and Maharage Chande, also paid tribute to Haule, remembering him as a humble, God-fearing, and respectful man who treated his responsibilities with utmost seriousness.

Among the dignitaries who attended the burial were the Director General of the Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA), Mr. James Andulile, and representatives from the Association of Retired TANESCO Workers (UWAWATA).

Haule began his career at TANESCO in 1988 and served the institution faithfully for 37 years. Although he officially retired in 2024, he was later offered a special contract in recognition of his dedication and exceptional service.
