Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) has officially opened the internal nomination process for party members who wish to contest in the 2025 General Election.
The process includes applications for positions such as Member of Parliament, Member of the House of Representatives, and Ward Councillor.
According to a public notice issued by the party’s Secretary for Ideology, Publicity, and Training, CPA Amos Gabriel Makalla, the nomination exercise will begin on May 1, 2025, at 2:00 a.m. and end on May 15, 2025, at 10:00 p.m. During this period, members will collect and return their application forms at the respective CCM offices.
Members who want to contest for parliamentary or House of Representatives positions will collect and return their forms to the District CCM Secretary in their area.
Women who want to contest for Special Seats in Parliament or the House of Representatives through the UWT wing or special groups such as NGOs, workers, academics, and people with disabilities must collect and return their forms to the UWT Regional Secretary in their region.
Other female aspirants contesting through the UVCCM (youth wing) or the WAZAZI (parents' wing) must also collect and return their forms to the respective Regional Secretaries of those wings.
For those who want to become Ward Councillors (in Mainland Tanzania) or Wadi representatives (in Zanzibar), they must collect and return their forms to the Ward or Branch CCM Secretary in the relevant area.
Women who want to contest for Special Seats at the ward or Wadi level must submit their forms to the District UWT Secretary.
The party has stressed the importance of following all instructions carefully and maintaining discipline throughout the process. It also urged members to respect party values, rules, and leadership during this important stage.
“This process is part of CCM’s commitment to transparency, democracy, and giving every eligible member a fair chance to serve the nation,” said CPA Makalla.
By starting early, CCM aims to identify and select the most capable candidates who will represent the party in the upcoming elections. As the ruling party, CCM is expected to field strong candidates in all parts of the country.
The announcement marks the beginning of serious election preparations, as members from across the country prepare to submit their names for consideration.
With clear guidelines in place, CCM hopes to ensure a smooth and fair nomination process that reflects the values of the party.
