Azam FC has expressed full readiness ahead of their highly anticipated clash against KMKM in the Muungano Cup, set to take place on April 25, 2025, at the historic Gombani Stadium in Pemba, Zanzibar.
The Dar es Salaam-based giants departed today for Pemba with a complete squad, focused and prepared for the tournament.
The Muungano Cup, which begins tomorrow, is a key fixture in celebrating the Union between Tanganyika and Zanzibar, and this year’s edition promises thrilling encounters as top teams from both sides of the Union face off.
Speaking ahead of the match, Azam FC’s Media Officer Hasheem Ibwe confirmed that the team is in excellent condition, both physically and mentally, and is determined to leave a mark in the tournament.
“Our team is in great shape. The players are healthy, well-prepared, and motivated. We’ve taken all the necessary steps to ensure the squad is ready to compete at the highest level,” said Ibwe.
He added that the club sees the Muungano Cup as more than just a tournament it’s an opportunity to showcase unity, talent, and the competitive spirit that defines Tanzanian football.
“Our objective is not just to compete but to demonstrate our strength and the quality of our squad. This tournament aligns with the spirit of unity, and we are proud to be part of it,” he noted.
Ibwe also revealed that Azam will field three different lineups throughout the tournament, allowing the coaching staff to evaluate all players especially those who haven’t had much playing time during the regular season.
“We will be rotating the squad to give every player a chance. It’s important for those who have not had regular minutes in the league to show what they’re capable of. With the Premier League season nearing its conclusion, this is the perfect platform for players to prove themselves,” he added.
