Yanga Princess secured a vital 2-0 win over Mlandizi Queens in the Tanzania Women’s Premier League (TWPL) on March 30, 2025, at the KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam.

The hard-fought victory reinforced Yanga Princess’s position in the top tier of the league, keeping their championship aspirations alive as the season nears its conclusion.

The match began with high energy, as both teams aimed to assert dominance early on. It was Yanga Princess who drew first blood in the 17th minute.

Aregash Kalsa, showing great composure, delivered a clinical finish past Mlandizi Queens' goalkeeper to give her side the lead.

The goal came from a well-coordinated build-up, with Kalsa capitalizing on a precise pass that saw her break through the Mlandizi defense and calmly slot the ball home.

Only eight minutes later, in the 25th minute, Yanga Princess extended their lead. Jeaninne Mukandayisenga made no mistake, adding a second goal after a beautifully timed assist that caught Mlandizi Queens off guard.

Mukandayisenga's strike was a testament to the teamwork and attacking fluidity of Yanga Princess, as they maintained control of the game and looked to widen their advantage.

As the first half came to a close, Yanga Princess had established a commanding 2-0 lead. Despite holding a two-goal deficit, Mlandizi Queens had shown flashes of attacking intent but lacked the final product.

Their attempts to break down Yanga's defense were thwarted, with the visitors unable to capitalize on possession or create significant goal-scoring chances.

In the second half, Mlandizi Queens regrouped, determined to mount a comeback. However, Yanga Princess remained resolute in defense.

The hosts displayed strong organization and discipline, limiting Mlandizi's opportunities and ensuring that they were unable to break through.

The match was characterized by a battle in the midfield, but neither team could add to the scoreline in the second half.

As the final whistle blew, Yanga Princess held firm to their 2-0 lead, securing all three points. The victory moved Yanga Princess to third place in the league standings with 33 points.

JKT Queens remained in first place with 38 points, while Simba Queens, with 37 points, occupied second position. The three teams are now in a tight race for the title, with just a few games remaining in the season.

This win is crucial for Yanga Princess as they push to finish as high as possible in the league, keeping their hopes for a championship alive.

With this performance, they have shown their strength and resilience, making them one of the top contenders. Mlandizi Queens, although disappointed by the loss, will look to regroup and improve as they continue their season.

As the TWPL progresses, the race at the top of the table promises more excitement, with teams like Yanga Princess, JKT Queens, and Simba Queens all vying for the prestigious title in what is shaping up to be a thrilling conclusion to the season.
