The Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) has entered into a strategic partnership with the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) to enhance voluntary tax compliance among football stakeholders.
The agreement was officially signed today, March 7, 2025, at the TRA headquarters in Dar es Salaam.
TRA Commissioner General, Mr. Yusuph Juma Mwenda, and TFF President, Mr. Wallace Karia, led the signing ceremony, emphasizing the importance of tax compliance in strengthening the country's economy and supporting the growth of the sports sector.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Mwenda highlighted the significance of the agreement.
"This collaboration with TFF is a crucial step in ensuring that all football stakeholders understand their tax obligations and contribute to national development. Through education and awareness programs, we aim to foster a culture of voluntary tax compliance within the sports industry," he stated.
On his part, Mr. Karia expressed TFF’s commitment to supporting tax compliance efforts.
"Football is not just a sport; it is a business that generates income for many individuals, including players, coaches, and club officials. We want to ensure that everyone involved understands the importance of paying taxes to build a better future for our nation," he noted.
The partnership will involve various initiatives, including tax awareness campaigns targeting football clubs, players, and other stakeholders.
TRA and TFF believe that through this cooperation, more individuals in the football sector will voluntarily comply with tax regulations, ultimately benefiting both the sports industry and the country’s economy.
