The Deputy Minister for Energy, Judith Kapinga, has emphasized that rural electrification projects prioritize areas that provide essential social services, such as schools, institutions, health centers, dispensaries, and water well locations, due to their importance in serving the community.
Kapinga made these remarks on March 18, 2025, during a visit to the villages of Lwangu and Welela in Njombe District.
The visit was part of a review by the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Energy and Minerals, which was inspecting ongoing rural electrification projects and listening to community feedback regarding their implementation.
"Institutions are our priority because they deliver services that benefit all of us. We want electricity to be accessible in health centers, dispensaries, water wells, and schools," Hon. Kapinga said.
She further explained that before beginning any rural electrification project, a thorough assessment is conducted to identify areas that provide social services, stressing that no area is overlooked in the process.
