Tanzania’s U-17 national team, Serengeti Boys, will face Egypt in a high-profile friendly match tonight, March 17, 2025, at 10:00 PM at the Egyptian Football Federation’s Technical Center Stadium.
The match is part of Serengeti Boys’ preparations for the upcoming 2025 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), set to take place in Morocco.
Head coach Agrey Moris emphasized the importance of the friendly match, stating that the technical team is using these games to assess how well the players have grasped tactical instructions and to identify areas that need improvement ahead of the continental tournament.
“Our objective is to refine our strategies, correct weaknesses, and ensure that every player fully understands their role on the pitch,” said Moris.
He added that preparations have been progressing well, with every player eager to prove themselves. “We have already played a friendly against Liberia, and these matches are helping us fine-tune our squad,” he noted.
Meanwhile, Serengeti Boys midfielder Ramadhan Ally expressed the team’s excitement and determination, acknowledging that facing Egypt will be a valuable learning experience.
“We know Egypt is a strong and competitive team, but these are the kind of matches we need to improve and prepare ourselves for AFCON,” said Ally.
He also praised the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) for organizing the training camp in Egypt, highlighting that the cold weather conditions are similar to those expected in Morocco.
“The camp has been beneficial despite the cold weather, which will help us adapt to Morocco’s climate. We are focused and motivated,” Ally added.
The Serengeti Boys are determined to perform well in the U-17 AFCON, with their ultimate goal being qualification for the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
