On March 11, 2025, Dar es Salaam’s Regional Commissioner, Albert Chalamila, met with Ms. Martha, who recently claimed via social media that she is owed over TZS 3 million by Amana Referral Hospital.
Ms. Martha alleged that the hospital owes her for sewing surgical room curtains and distributing them, a job she completed in 2017 and 2021.
During the meeting, RC Chalamila took the opportunity to conduct an interview with Ms. Martha, in the presence of journalists and Amana Hospital staff, to review the entire claims process.
He instructed Ms. Martha to provide the necessary documents to substantiate her claim, emphasizing that payment would only be made upon receipt of the proper documentation.
He further urged the hospital’s director to expedite the verification of the documents to ensure that Ms. Martha receives the payment she deserves.
“Government payments cannot proceed without proper documentation, so all required paperwork must be in order,” RC Chalamila asserted.
In addition to addressing the claims, RC Chalamila personally contributed TZS 2 million from his own funds to support Ms. Martha’s business, recognizing her entrepreneurial spirit despite the challenges she faces as a widow.
The donation was intended to help boost her capital as she continues her business endeavors.
RC Chalamila also used the opportunity to encourage the public, particularly those working with government institutions, to ensure they possess the proper documentation when engaging in official transactions.
This, he noted, would help prevent unnecessary delays in payments and facilitate smoother processes.
