On March 23, 2025, the Regional Commissioner of Dar es Salaam, Albert Chalamila, generously donated Iftar charity to over 600 Muslim women from all five districts of the region at the Bakwata Grand Mosque in Kinondoni, Dar es Salaam.

The donation, which included essential items for Iftar such as rice, cooking oil, sugar, dates, maize flour, and wheat flour, was received by the Mufti of Tanzania, Dr. Abubakar Zuberi Bin Ally, who oversaw its distribution to the needy women in the region.

During the donation ceremony, RC Chalamila called on the women to continue praying for the welfare of the region, the nation, and for the country's leadership, particularly President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan.

He also shared his plans to host a public Iftar for the residents of Dar es Salaam in the coming days, inviting Dr. Abubakar Zuberi Bin Ally to attend.

“Today, I am donating to this group, but in the next two days, I will host an Iftar for all Dar es Salaam residents in an open setting, and we will extend an invitation to the Mufti once again,” said RC Chalamila.

Dr. Abubakar Zuberi Bin Ally expressed his heartfelt gratitude, saying, The only words I have for  Chalamila are appreciation and congratulations for the kindness he has shown to these women.

The event also saw Kinondoni District Commissioner  Saad Mtambule and Kinondoni Mayor Mr. Songoro Mnyonge thanking RC Chalamila for his charitable act and urging citizens to participate in the ongoing voter registration exercise, which was set to conclude on March 23, 2025, in line with the INEC schedule.

The event served as a powerful reminder of the importance of charity and community unity, resonating with the Quranic verse: “And spend [in the way of Allah] from what We have provided you before death approaches one of you, and he says, ‘My Lord, if only You would delay me for a brief term so I would give charity and be among the righteous.’” (Quran 63:10). This reflection on charity highlights the significance of giving, especially in times of need.
