A special friendly match between Singida Black Stars and Yanga was abruptly halted today due to heavy rain at the Airtel Stadium in Singida.

The match, which was scheduled to last 90 minutes, was suspended in the 57th minute as the rain intensified.

This match was part of the official inauguration of the new Airtel Stadium in the region.

At the time of suspension, both teams were tied 1-1.

Yanga took the lead in the 19th minute with a goal from Jonathan Ikangalombo. The first half ended with Yanga leading 1-0.

In the 55th minute, Singida Black Stars equalized with a goal from Marouf Tchakei.

The Airtel Stadium, located in the Mtipa area, will serve as Singida BS's home ground for both league matches and other competitions, replacing the CCM Liti stadium they previously used.

Meanwhile, Yanga will face Songea United on Saturday in the CRDB Cup Round of 16, which will be held at the KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam.

Singida BS, on the other hand, is preparing for their quarterfinal match after eliminating KMC in the FA Cup Round of 16.
