Minister Mhagama delivers President Samia's message to Zambia

On March 25, 2025, the Minister of Health of Tanzania,  Jenista Mhagama, delivered a special message from President Samia Suluhu Hassan of the United Republic of Tanzania to the President of Zambia, Hon. Hakainde Hichilema. 

The exchange took place at the Presidential Palace in Lusaka, Zambia, a significant venue for such a diplomatic occasion.

 The meeting highlighted the ongoing strong ties between the two nations, underscoring their long-standing friendship and shared commitment to fostering regional cooperation.

The delivery of the message was part of a broader diplomatic effort to continue strengthening the relationship between Tanzania and Zambia, two nations that share not only geographical proximity but also historical, cultural, and economic bonds. 

"Zambia and Tanzania have a rich history of cooperation, dating back to the early years of independence," said President Hichilema.

 "Our partnership is one that has stood the test of time and continues to grow, with shared goals of promoting peace, security, and development."

The warm and cordial reception by President Hichilema underscored the strength of these ties, with both leaders emphasizing the importance of nurturing bilateral relations to benefit their citizens. 

"I express my deepest gratitude to President Samia for sending such a meaningful message," President Hichilema continued. 

"Tanzania and Zambia are united by more than just borders; we are united by our shared aspirations for a prosperous and peaceful future."

Minister Mhagama, in her remarks, emphasized Tanzania's continued commitment to enhancing its relationship with Zambia. 

"Our two countries have long been allies in the fight for regional peace and development," she stated. "We are proud of the strong relationship that exists between Tanzania and Zambia, and we remain steadfast in our resolve to further strengthen it." 

Minister Mhagama also thanked President Hichilema for the warm reception and hospitality extended to her and her delegation. 

"The positive engagement we have with Zambia is crucial for the continued success and progress of both our nations," she added.

Accompanying Minister Mhagama was Tanzania’s Ambassador to Zambia, Lieutenant General Mathew Edward Mkingule, who also expressed his appreciation for the cordial relationship between the two nations. 

"The bond between Zambia and Tanzania is an example of African solidarity, built on mutual respect and trust," Ambassador Mkingule remarked. 

"This relationship serves as a model for others in the region and beyond, showing the power of collaboration in achieving shared goals."

During the meeting, discussions also centered around expanding cooperation in key areas, including trade, infrastructure development, and regional security. 

"We must continue to work together to improve trade relations and ensure better transportation networks between our nations," said Minister Mhagama. 

"Through these efforts, we can unlock new opportunities for economic growth and enhance the well-being of our people."

Both leaders agreed that strengthening security cooperation is essential in addressing regional challenges.

 "Peace and security are the foundation for any successful development," President Hichilema stated. "Tanzania and Zambia must continue to work together to ensure that our region remains stable and prosperous."

This diplomatic exchange serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining strong and meaningful ties between neighboring countries.

 The relationship between Tanzania and Zambia, built on mutual respect and shared values, continues to play a vital role in advancing the collective interests of the two nations.

 "Our cooperation remains a pillar of stability and progress in the East and Southern African region," concluded Minister Mhagama. "Together, we can continue to build a brighter future for our people."
