Prime Minister to lead World Forest Day celebrations

The Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania,  Kassim Majaliwa (MP), is set to be the guest of honor at the World Forest Day celebrations, which will be held alongside National Tree Planting Day on March 21, 2025, in Njombe Region.

This announcement was made by the Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism,  Ambassador Dr. Pindi Chana (MP), during a meeting with officials from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism and its affiliated institutions, held today, March 18, 2025, in Mtumba, Dodoma.

“This year’s celebrations aim to raise awareness, educate, and motivate Tanzanians on the importance of safeguarding and conserving our forest resources.

 The theme for this year is ‘Enhancing the Value of Forest Products for the Sustainability of Resources for Present and Future Generations,’ and the Prime Minister, Kassim Majaliwa, will be the guest of honor at the peak of the event,” Dr. Chana emphasized.

Dr. Chana also expressed her gratitude to the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, for her leadership and vision in advancing forestry and conservation efforts, particularly in tourism.

“Under President Samia’s leadership, the forest sector has continued to improve significantly. It is our collective responsibility as Tanzanians to ensure that we protect our forests from any form of destruction,” Dr. Chana stated.

The celebrations will feature a range of activities, including tree planting exercises across all local councils in Njombe Region, exhibitions showcasing forest products and services, panel discussions involving forestry experts and stakeholders, and displays of various tourist attractions, including live wildlife such as lions and other animals.
