The National Handball Club Championship is set to begin tomorrow at Miembeni Primary School grounds in Bunda District, Mara Region.
Speaking to The Respondent Online, Emmanuel Majura, the Technical Chairman of the Tanzania Handball Association (TAHA), confirmed that preparations are in their final stages, with teams arriving at the competition venue.
"The preparations are nearly complete, and all teams have confirmed their participation. We will have a meeting later this evening to finalize the competition schedule ahead of tomorrow's opening," Majura said.
He explained that the championship aims to select representatives for both the men's and women's categories for upcoming international competitions.
The teams participating in the event include both male and female players from Mwanza, Dar es Salaam, Shinyanga, and the host region of Mara.
The teams competing include Ngome, JKT, Magnus, Victory, Bunda Youth, Mwanza, Tarime, and Shinyanga.
In a separate development, the JKT team was involved in an accident earlier this morning while traveling from Dar es Salaam to Bunda for the championship.
TAHA's Deputy Secretary-General, Yehofati Kalulu, confirmed that six individuals were injured in the accident and have been rushed to Ziba Hospital for medical treatment.
