The Parliamentary Committee on Infrastructure has commended the sixth-phase government, through the Ministry of Construction, for the continued progress and pace of the construction of Msalato International Airport and the Dodoma Outer Ring Road.
The Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Infrastructure, Selemani Kakoso, stated this during the committee's inspection of the project’s progress.
“The committee congratulates the government for these vital projects and ensures their completion on time and with quality,” said Kakoso.
Kakoso emphasized that the international airport is significant because it will promote agriculture, business, and services, thereby boosting the economy.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Minister of Construction, Engineer Godfrey Kasekenya, assured the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee that the construction would be closely monitored to ensure its timely completion.
“We have extended the contractor’s timeframe, and work is being carried out day and night to ensure the project is completed as planned,” said Deputy Minister Kasekenya.
Earlier, presenting a report on the project, the Chief Executive Officer of the Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) stated that the construction of the project is 90% complete and is expected to be finalized by July this year.
