Members of the Board of Trustees of the Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA) have commended the initiatives taken by Lake Manyara National Park to improve the ecology of its ecosystems, a move that has resulted in a noticeable increase in the park’s animal population.

CPA Khadija Ramadhani, a member of the TANAPA Board of Trustees and Chairperson of the Audit Committee, expressed her appreciation on February 6, 2025, during an inspection of the park, which is located in the Manyara region.

During the visit, CPA Khadija remarked, "I would like to commend the management of Lake Manyara National Park for their outstanding efforts in enhancing the environment and ecology across various parts of the park.

This has led to a significant increase in the animal population, a remarkable improvement compared to previous years."

She continued, "Today, we observed a noticeable increase in the numbers of giraffes, zebras, elephants, and gazelles.

I applaud the efforts to continue protecting our park areas and to improve densely forested zones by creating 'firelines.'

These firelines help contain fires within the park, enabling them to be easily controlled, minimizing the impact on valuable resources and also preventing the spread of invasive plant species.

This has strengthened grazing areas for wildlife."

Speaking during the visit, Deputy Commissioner for Conservation Steria Ndaga, who also serves as the Conservation Commander for the Northern Zone, highlighted that these efforts align with the ongoing improvement of infrastructure to support both tourism and the protection of natural resources.

Moreover, Commissioner Ndaga added, "Currently, many of the roads within Lake Manyara National Park remain accessible year-round, regardless of weather conditions.

This has led to increased tourist visits to the park’s various attractions. As a result, numerous visitors have admired the park, calling it a 'beautiful destination,' and many plan to return whenever possible."

Additionally, Assistant Commissioner for Conservation Yustina Kiwango, who heads Lake Manyara National Park, expressed the park's commitment to continued excellence.

"As a park, we pledge to work diligently, fulfilling our duties with efficiency and precision to bring value to both our organization and the nation as a whole."

Kiwango further emphasized that the park will continue addressing its challenges, ensuring the protection of natural resources, delivering exceptional services to visitors, and preserving the environment.

These efforts are essential to maintain an ecosystem that supports wildlife reproduction and growth, benefiting both current and future generations.
