Yanga set to defend CRDB Federation Cup title

By Flora Mkoloma

Following a commanding 5-0 victory over Copco, Yanga’s head coach, Saed Ramovic, has expressed his team’s determination to maintain their momentum as they aim for a spot in the semi-finals and ultimately clinch the CRDB Federation Cup.

Speaking after the match, Ramovic highlighted the team’s focus and discipline as the driving forces behind their impressive performance.

“Our goal is to perform consistently and make history in football. Discipline and the players' concentration have been key to this victory,” he stated.

The coach added, “We are focusing on preparing ourselves rather than worrying about the opponents ahead. Our focus remains on improving as a team.”

Meanwhile, Copco’s head coach, Lucas Mlingwa, commended Yanga for their remarkable display and acknowledged the result as a learning experience for his young squad.

“I’m proud of my players for their effort. Despite the loss, they’ve gained confidence and valuable experience from playing against such a strong team,” Mlingwa remarked.

He explained that while his team executed their defensive strategy well in the first half, allowing only one goal, a lack of concentration in the second half led to conceding four additional goals, most of which were scored from long-range attempts.

“Our plan to limit Yanga’s attacking space worked initially, but we lost focus in the second half, which cost us dearly,” he concluded.

Yanga now looks ahead, fully focused on their mission to retain the coveted title.
