Simba SC has earned a place in the CAF Confederation Cup (CAF CC) quarterfinals following a 1-1 draw against Bravos Do Maquis in a thrilling fifth group-stage match held today in Angola.
Bravos Do Maquis took an early lead in the 13th minute when Keaikantse Masiathaga found the back of the net.
The goal gave the hosts a 1-0 advantage going into halftime.
Simba fought back in the second half, with Lionel Ateba scoring the equalizer in the 69th minute to secure the crucial point that sealed their progression to the quarterfinals.
The result leaves Simba in second place in the group standings with 10 points, just behind leaders CS Constantine, who have 12 points after five matches.
Simba will wrap up their group-stage campaign with a home game against CS Constantine on January 20 at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
This match will determine the final standings of the group as Simba look to end the stage on a high note.
