The much-anticipated clash between Simba SC and CS Constantine for the top spot in Group A of the CAF Confederation Cup will unfold tomorrow at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Both teams have already secured their places in the quarterfinals, but the stakes remain high as they vie for three points to claim group supremacy.
Speaking at a press conference on January 18, 2025, coaches and players from both sides expressed confidence in their preparations ahead of the showdown.
Simba’s head coach, Fadlu Davids, acknowledged the significance of the match while emphasizing a calm approach from his players.
“It’s an important game, but we’re playing without pressure. Our focus is on winning. We’re up against a strong team in our group, and the match will be tough, but our goal is clear—to take all three points,” Davids said.
Addressing the absence of fans due to CAF’s decision, Davids admitted it was disappointing but assured supporters that the team respects the ruling.
Simba midfielder Awesu Awesu echoed his coach’s determination, stating that the team is fully prepared to secure victory.
“We’re not stepping onto the pitch just because we’ve qualified; we’re going there to win and finish as group leaders. Although it’s sad to miss our fans, their prayers and support from afar mean everything to us,” Awesu said.
On the opposing side, CS Constantine’s head coach, Madoui Khereddine, described the match as a final, highlighting the importance of a win to secure first place.
“This is a crucial game, and we’re fully focused on taking three points. Simba is a strong team with talented players, but tomorrow will reveal the ultimate leaders of this group,” Khereddine remarked.
He also revealed that previously injured players might return to action, bolstering their lineup for the decisive encounter.
CS Constantine’s player Melo Ndiaye shared the coach’s sentiments, expressing confidence in his team’s ability to perform well.
“This match feels like a final for us. Simba is a formidable team, but we’ve prepared thoroughly and are ready to fight for victory and the top spot,” Ndiaye stated.
With both teams determined to finish as group leaders, tomorrow’s match promises a thrilling conclusion to Group A’s campaign in the CAF Confederation Cup.
