Sierra Leone president arrives in Tanzania for historic Africa energy summit

The President of Sierra Leone,Presdent Julius Maada Bio, has arrived in Dar es Salaam to take part in the Africa Heads of State Summit on Energy, set to be held at the Julius Nyerere International Conference Centre from January 27 to 28, 2025.

Upon arrival at Julius Nyerere International Airport, President Bio was warmly received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo.

President Bio is the first head of state to arrive in the country for this crucial summit, which will bring together a total of 25 African presidents.

This landmark summit aims to strengthen regional collaboration in tackling Africa’s energy challenges and seizing the opportunities for sustainable energy development. 

The gathering will also witness the adoption of the Dar es Salaam Declaration, which underscores the commitment of African leaders to ensuring reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy for the continent's future.
