Public workers in Dar to work from home Jan 27–28

Some main roads in Dar es Salaam will be closed during the Africa Energy Summit, happening on January 27–28, 2025. To reduce disruptions, public servants in Dar es Salaam have been told to work from home on these dates.

Chief Secretary Dr. Moses Kusiluka announced that this decision is to avoid challenges caused by road closures.

However, workers in essential services like security, health, and transport will still need to report to their workplaces.

Dr. Kusiluka also said that banks, Kariakoo Market, hotels, and restaurants will remain open as usual. Private employers are encouraged to let their staff work from home or create flexible work plans to avoid travel problems.

The summit will be attended by President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan and 24 African presidents. Representatives from 21 other African countries, leaders of six major international organizations (like the World Bank and African Development Bank), and five development partners will also join.

In total, 2,600 participants from inside and outside Tanzania have registered to attend this important event.
