The final of the U17 Girls Integrated Football Tournament (GIFT) will see Tanzania’s JKT Queens face off against TDS Girls tonight at the Azam Complex Stadium in Chamazi.
The match, set to kick off at 7:00 PM local time, promises an exciting clash as the two Tanzanian teams vie for the championship title.
Ahead of the final, players from both teams expressed their readiness and determination to lift the trophy.
JKT Queens’ captain, Yasinta Mitoga, admitted the match will be challenging but affirmed her team’s focus on securing victory.
“We’re prepared and motivated to achieve our goal of winning the championship. While we respect our opponents, our team is united and determined to deliver results,” she said.
On the other hand, TDS Girls’ standout player Mary Siyame exuded confidence, highlighting her team’s thorough preparation for the decisive encounter.
“It won’t be an easy match because both teams are equally hungry for victory, but we’re ready to give our best and take home the trophy,” Siyame remarked.
This year marks the debut of the GIFT tournament in Tanzania, organized as a pilot event to encourage young girls to participate in football and boost their involvement in sports.
The competition brought together teams from five countries—Tanzania (hosts), South Sudan, Kenya, Uganda, and Burundi—fostering regional unity and promoting the development of women’s football.
All eyes will be on the Azam Complex tonight as the two teams compete not only for glory but also to inspire the next generation of young female footballers.
