Simba ready to face CS Sfaxien in CAF confederation cup clash

By Flora Mkoloma

Simba SC has intensified preparations for their third group-stage match in the CAF Confederation Cup against Tunisia’s CS Sfaxien. The much-anticipated match is scheduled for Sunday at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

This will mark Simba's third group game, their second at home, following one away encounter. The team began their campaign on a high note, securing a narrow 1-0 victory over Brovas in their opening match at home.

However, they faced a setback in Algeria, suffering a 2-1 defeat to CS Constantine in their second match. On the other hand, CS Sfaxien comes into the game under pressure, having lost both of their initial group matches.

Simba’s Media and Communications Manager, Ahmed Ally, expressed optimism about the team’s readiness. "Preparations are going well. The players have entered camp and are focused on the task ahead," Ally said.

He also emphasized the importance of strong fan support to boost the team’s morale, urging Simba supporters to turn out in large numbers.

Efforts to mobilize fans have included awareness campaigns and the launch of the Kapu la Magoli fan group, which celebrates the contribution of supporters to the club's achievements.

“Our message is clear: on Sunday, fans from Tandika and beyond must come to the stadium. It’s close by, and all you need is a ticket. No Simba fan should remain at home. Everyone must show up,” Ally urged passionately.

“There’s nothing more we need than a full stadium and a victory. Achieving that victory is not just the responsibility of the players or management—it’s a collective effort involving every Simba fan,” he added.

In a related development, Simba will host the draw for the Simba University Bonanza today at the Tanzania Institute of Accountancy (TIA).

The event, which aims to engage fans and strengthen the club’s community ties, will commence at 11 a.m.

With preparations in full swing, Simba SC is determined to secure a vital win and solidify their position in the group standings. Fans eagerly await Sunday’s clash, which promises to deliver thrilling football action.
