Simba extend their reign in the premier league

By Flora Mkoloma

Simba SC proved why they are the team to beat in the Tanzania Premier League with a gritty 1-0 victory over JKT Tanzania at the KMC Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

The hard-fought win keeps Simba firmly at the top of the league standings, much to the delight of their loyal fans.

The game’s only goal came dramatically in the dying moments of regulation time. Defender Shomari Kapombe was brought down inside the penalty area, leaving the referee with no choice but to point to the spot.

Up stepped Jean Ahoua, who kept his cool under pressure to smash the ball past the keeper and secure the crucial three points.

It was a cagey affair in the first half, with neither side breaking the deadlock. Simba dominated possession but struggled to find a way through JKT’s resolute defense, and the two teams went into the halftime break locked at 0-0.

Simba head coach Roberto Oliveira made key tactical changes in the second half to shift the momentum.

Jean Ahoua replaced Awesu Awesu at the start of the half, while Joshua Mutale and Steven Mutale came on for Elie Mpanzu and Leonel Ateba, respectively, in the 60th minute.

JKT Tanzania responded with their own changes, bringing on Hassan Dilunga, Mohammed Bakari, and Mateo Anthony to inject fresh energy into their lineup.

Despite their efforts, Simba’s defensive line held firm, with Moussa Camara standing tall in goal.

As the clock ticked down, Simba made further substitutions to maintain their advantage. Mohamed Hussein ‘Shabalala’ replaced Valentino Nouma, while Valentino Mashaka came on for Deborah Mavambo in the closing stages. JKT Tanzania pushed for an equalizer, but Simba’s experience and composure saw them see out the game.

With this result, Simba remain in commanding form as they aim to extend their dominance in the league. Their supporters will be hoping for more of the same as the season progresses.

Simba SC Lineup: Moussa Camara, Shomari Kapombe, Valentino Nouma, Che Malone, Abdulazack Hamza, Fabrice Ngoma, Elie Mpanzu, Deborah Mavambo, Awesu Awesu, Leonel Ateba, Ladack Chasambi.
