Golf enthusiasts are set to gather this Sunday at the Gymkhana grounds in Dar es Salaam for a special tournament honoring one of Tanzania’s most celebrated golfers, Lina Nkya.

Known for her exceptional skill, unwavering determination, and profound passion for golf, Lina Nkya has inspired generations and left an indelible mark on the sport.

The Lina PG Tour tournament, organized by her family in collaboration with the Tanzania Ladies Golf Union (TLGU), seeks to celebrate her significant contributions to golf in the country.

Among those reflecting on their journey within the sport is Habib Seif, a dedicated caddy who has been a pillar of support at the Gymkhana Club for over four decades, starting in 1981.

“My role has always been to assist golfers during their games, offering encouragement to help them play better,” Habib shared. “Over the years, I’ve trained many golfers, and without my guidance, they wouldn’t perform as well as they do. Even the most skilled players still need the support of a caddy.”

Habib’s contributions extend beyond caddying, as he also participates in open tournaments, showcasing his deep commitment to the sport.

Excitement is building for the Lina PG Tour, with professional golfers like Isack Ayoub and Noor Mollel eagerly anticipating the competition. Isack, a Tanzanian professional golfer from Arusha, expressed his enthusiasm for participating in the event.

“As a professional golfer and volunteer, it’s an honor to celebrate our pioneer, Lina Nkya,” Isack said. “The event has ignited enthusiasm among participants, making everyone feel like true golfers. We are all well-prepared, and with the extra practice I’ve put in, I’m confident about my chances. On Sunday, the winner who will head to Dubai will be decided—I hope to be among them.”

Noor Mollel, another professional golfer from the Arusha Gymkhana Club, echoed similar sentiments.

“This tournament is very well-organized, and I’ve come fully prepared to compete,” Noor remarked. “We’ve done our part in getting ready, but ultimately, we leave the rest in God’s hands, as He knows everything.”

With passionate individuals like Habib, Isack, and Noor uniting to honor Lina Nkya, the Lina PG Tour promises to be a remarkable celebration of talent, dedication, and the enduring legacy of one of Tanzania’s golfing greats.
