The Member of the House of Representatives for Chwaka Constituency, Zanzibar, and Secretary of the National Executive Council (NEC) for Organization, Issa Gavu, has reiterated the government’s commitment to addressing the challenges faced by Chwaka residents.
He highlighted significant progress in improving road infrastructure, education, healthcare, and water services, attributing these achievements to the leadership of Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM).
Speaking on December 14, 2024, during a briefing on the implementation of the CCM’s 2020 General Election Manifesto, Gavu presented an array of donations to the constituency.
They included 20 motorcycles worth TZS 72 million, sports equipment valued at TZS 17 million, clothing materials (kitenge fabrics, t-shirts, and caps) worth TZS 14 million, community donations totaling TZS 22 million, 100 sewing machines worth TZS 30 million, roofing sheets and construction materials valued at TZS 7 million, and 15 printing machines, each valued at over TZS 2.1 million.
Gavu expressed confidence in CCM’s continued leadership, asserting that no other political party in Tanzania could match its commitment and capability to drive the nation’s development.
“There are 19 political parties, but none have the readiness, determination, or capacity to lead our nation as effectively as CCM. The progress in our constituency speaks for itself,” he stated.
He further emphasized the achievements of the 8th Government under President Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, which he credited as a driving force behind Chwaka’s development agenda.
“As residents of Chwaka, we are witnesses to the transformation under this government. While some issues frustrated us in the past, we have seen remarkable improvements in water, education, healthcare, and infrastructure. For challenges yet to be resolved, plans and processes are already in motion,” he noted.
Gavu also highlighted initiatives aimed at empowering entrepreneurs, establishing vocational training centers, and developing education hubs as evidence of CCM’s dedication to improving citizens’ lives.
He urged residents to remain united and prepare for the upcoming voter registration exercise, aiming for a 100% success rate in updating the voter registry.
“These achievements are the results of choosing CCM. When others come to campaign, engage them peacefully and avoid unnecessary confrontations. We will respond through actions and results, but let us also focus on strengthening our voter registration system to ensure every eligible voter in Chwaka is registered,” Gavu emphasized.
In conclusion, Gavu reaffirmed CCM’s unwavering commitment to serving Tanzanians and fostering sustainable development across all sectors, urging continued unity and collaboration for the betterment of the constituency.
