The Regional Energy Efficiency Conference (REEC 2024), which brought together member countries from the East African Community (EAC) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC), concluded today in Arusha.

The conference resulted in key resolutions aimed at improving the efficient use of energy across the region.

One of the main resolutions is to collectively advance energy efficiency technologies to ensure better energy management and usage.

Held from December 4-5, 2024, the conference was officially closed by the Minister of Industry and Trade, Dr. Selemani Jafo.

He highlighted the participation of policymakers, legislators, experts, and industry leaders, all working toward a common goal: ensuring efficient energy use to support economic growth and industrial development.

He assured that the government will allocate the necessary budget to ensure the country’s energy equipment is used efficiently.

Dr. Kazungu also highlighted the importance of collaboration, stating, “Through this conference, we have agreed to conduct joint research and involve the private sector in improving energy efficiency.”
