A total of 28 boxers across various weight categories are set to clash in the finals of the Champions of Champions Boxing Tournament, taking place today at the Police College Grounds in Dar es Salaam.
This much-anticipated event will feature 14 bouts for both men and women, with champions in each weight class to be crowned by the end of the day.
In the men’s division, the action kicks off in the 48 kg weight category where Atanas Umbamba from Iringa will face Fadhili Hassan from Urafiki. Meanwhile, in the 51 kg category, Shazili Hija from Police will battle Idd Khassim from Iringa.
Other notable matches include Mohamed Furahisha from Police taking on Hussein Chomba from JKT in the 54 kg class and Mwarami Salum from JKT going head-to-head with Rajab Lukemo from Azam in the 57 kg class.
The competition continues in the 60 kg category with Daluce Leonard from Ng'umbi facing Yussuf Doi from Police. In the 63.5 kg category, Shaban Mganda from JKT will square off against Hamza Doi from Police.
In the 67 kg category, Elius Damson from JKT will compete against Kibwana Zakaria from Ng'umbi, while Malima Bwile from Azam will face Devid Chaz from Police in the 71 kg class.
In the higher weight categories, Mussa Abdul from Ng'umbi will take on Elankunda Daniel from JKT in the 75 kg division. Michael Albet from Police will challenge Hassan Omari from JKT in the 86 kg division, and Matonyingi Hasara from Police will battle Emanuel Augostino from JKT in the 92 kg heavyweight bout.
For the women’s matches, Veronica Mapunda will take on Latifa Said in the 52 kg category, with both fighters hailing from JKT.
In the 57 kg category, Zawadi Kutaka from JKT will face Domino Hosea from Kibiti, while Leneta Msigwa has already advanced in her category via a walkover.
