The Dar es Salaam regional volleyball teams, both men's and women's, are in full preparation mode ahead of the highly anticipated National Cup, set to take place from November 2 to 8, 2024, in Dodoma.
In an interview with Fredy Mshangama, Chairman of the Dar es Salaam Regional Volleyball Association (DAREVA), he shared his optimism regarding the teams' readiness and the players' determination to put on a competitive show.
"The players are highly motivated and focused on showcasing their skills and competitive spirit," Mshangama said. "Our goal is to achieve strong results that will not only represent our region well but also enhance its reputation in the volleyball community."
He further emphasized that the team is engaged in rigorous training, while the management is diligently working on logistics to ensure the teams can travel to the event.
"The preparation process is going smoothly, and we are actively reaching out to stakeholders for support to ensure this journey is a success," Mshangama added.
Currently, 20 athletes (both men and women) are in the training camp, with a selection process underway to determine the final 14 players who will represent Dar es Salaam in the tournament. The women's team will be coached by Hellen Mwegoha and Mariam Mkalamvati, while the men's team will be under the guidance of coaches Athumani Hussein and Edwin Masinga.
With the tournament just days away, both teams are focused on fine-tuning their skills and preparing for the challenges ahead, aiming to bring home excellent results from the National Cup.
