The National Insurance Corporation (NIC) has launched its "NIC KITAA" campaign in Morogoro, urging Tanzanians to secure insurance to protect themselves from life’s uncertainties and help reduce poverty.
Speaking at the campaign’s launch, NIC's Acting Director of Marketing and Communications, Kafiti Kafiti, emphasized the importance of insurance in safeguarding individuals against life’s challenges, including accidents, property damage, or business losses.
“We aim to educate every Tanzanian about the value of insurance. When you have insurance, you are directly protecting yourself from falling deeper into poverty. Without insurance, a single incident—whether it’s an accident, a house fire, or a business failure—could push you back into hardship,” Kafiti said.
The campaign is also designed to challenge the widespread misconception that insurance doesn’t benefit ordinary citizens. Kafiti stressed that NIC’s goal is to ensure everyone understands the advantages of being insured, in line with President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s vision of an informed population on insurance matters.
NIC, with its extensive network, has already conducted campaigns in Mwanza and plans to expand to other regions, including Dodoma, Arusha, Singida, and Zanzibar, with the objective of reaching every Tanzanian with detailed insurance education.
“We’ve been operating in Tanzania for over 60 years and have the resources to serve all Tanzanians. With more than 30 insurance products, we provide services to everyone, including small-scale traders and farmers,” Kafiti noted.
He also assured the public that NIC is committed to delivering high-quality services without any complications, emphasizing that no Tanzanian would be left behind.
Fredrick Solomon, the Acting Manager of NIC in Morogoro, added that the campaign would soon reach all districts in the region, including Kilosa, Kilombero, Ulanga, Malinyi, Mvomero, and Gairo, with the aim of ensuring that every citizen understands the importance of insurance in securing their future.
